Stupidest Headline I've Read today!

CTV Headline: "PM doesn't favour U.S. fee for Canadians"

Again CTV News is using it's media platform to try to paint Stephen Harper in the best possible light. Christ, their headline is absurd!

Of course, Harpo (no matter how little integrity he may actually have) cannot, and will not, support the levying of fees on Canadians traveling to the US. After all, that would be akin to him coming out in "favour" of an unnecessary purchase of an over-priced new and unproven fighter jet! Wouldn't it?

A freaking no-brainer this story is not news! Only a moron PM would "favour" it! The real CTV headline should have read: "Harpo can only manage to opine that the US proposed fee on Canadian travelers is not 'useful'!"

Dazed and Confused: Cotto and boxing, Harper and climate change

It's kinda weird. On climate change, as with so many other issues, Harpo's almost like a zombie? I mean Christ, if even Obama can't get his attention, what chance do the rest of us have?

And talking about dazed and confused, I'm glad I was not in Miguel Cotto's boots last night going toe-to-toe with the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet ... ouchie!

Ever had a bad day at the office? Did you come home looking like this? No? Me neither, err, well not too often at least. The photo kind of reminds me of our Tory government's climate change strategy ... all bloodied.

Poor Cotto, he ended up like the Tory climate change strategy at APEC that also involved a warm-up round, lots of bobbing and weaving, spinning, weak-kneed qualified backpedaling, all to no effect = "The final communique from the leaders summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum here was largely silent, though, on any hard commitments to cutting the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change."

Ah, another optimum outcome for Harpo & co. on the climate file, another status-quo wet-dream success, another day of no progress!

Hope meets the Vast Emptiness: Obama meets Harper

Was I the only one watching Obama's visit yesterday who found themselves also visited by a morose melancholy? Was I the only one who looked at this one standing besides Harpo and thought: where did we go wrong?

Probably not.

In the grand sweepstakes spectacle of national leadership, it's clear we have been shafted.

As Buckdog noted, a Toronto Star poll of 1,500 Canadians revealed that 57% of us saw Obama as possessing "the qualities ... most valued in a leader. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was far behind with 14% ..." I am surprised Harpo even got 14%!

Guess that's called a 'base'?
